During the global uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, EHSAS volunteers remained steadfast in their efforts throughout both lockdown periods. In response to the urgent need for protective equipment, we mobilized quickly and coordinated the production of a large number of masks using the skills of unemployed tailors.
EHSAS was among the pioneers in launching high-quality hand sanitizers on March 7, 2020. Our sanitizers were distributed extensively to a wide range of recipients, including police departments, hospitals, and the general public, to support health and safety measures during the pandemic.
In addition to these efforts, we undertook the critical task of transporting D-type oxygen cylinders from Pondicherry using a specially equipped train coach. This operation was carried out several times to ensure a steady supply of oxygen to COVID-afflicted patients. EHSAS volunteers worked tirelessly around the clock, delivering oxygen cylinders directly to patients' homes and arranging for refills as needed.
Our commitment to saving lives during this crisis has not only strengthened our impact within India but also expanded our volunteer network to several countries in Europe and the USA, showcasing the global reach and solidarity of our mission.
